


Yeah, Motobecane screams BD, but no worse in my eyes than Jamis or Surley.

Short story is I really don't need another road bike and the logistics of N+1 make this difficult. My LBS is good about servicing any bike however, I've been to shops where they know you bought on line and don't go out of their way to make the experience pleasant. I'm not normally a brand snob, but the association with BD tarnishes the bike. It was one-quarter the price of the Motobecane, came in a box with stray parts rattling around (and was likely previously returned based on the paperwork), and I got zero support from the vendor. I got my GT from Bike Island, BD's scratch-and-dent division. If you do find one it's probably going to be a Surly. The stores mostly carry the big three, with the ones in fancier ZIPs adding some fancier brands. I live in northern NJ and wouldn't know where to get a steel bike except on line, which is where I got my current one.
